Broken Music Player Announcement: ZOMG FileDen!!!

So i was wondering what on earth going on with my music player -
it isn't working anymore!!!

Wait, only those songs from my online storage arent playing!!!

I do hope you guys enjoy listening the songs from my player ^^

and if you love it, then the malfunctioning of the music player at the moment would certainly raised the same question as i asked above -

'why the hell is the music player not working??!!'

So i may as well explain a little bit on the situation here:

The music player that i've been using is from a website called Mixpod - basically the 'sponsor' of the music player (on the left of the page/in my blog entry). However, Mixpod has nothing to do with the songs arent playing atm.

Now there are alot of website like Mixpod (provide music player service and it is free^^) out there while i chose Mixpod is because of their bandwidth stablebility ,pretty user interface and one more thing that made Mixpod outstanding from the others is that you can't upload your videos/songs to Mixpod website -

There will be problems if you are trying to be a 'Youtube'-like website - copyright infrigment/limited storage etc etc, which is not what i want since i am looking for a stable, smooth music player provider for long term use. Well the main reason here is that i wanna upload my own songs - but i cant do that due to the copyright thingy's rules.

However, Mixpod allows you to link your songs from any 3rd party website ^O^
(you give them the song/MV link, they play it for you in their music player)

Smart, i would say, caused' in this way they have absolute 0 burden on providing massive storage for their users and it is actually a 'loophole' for users telling us that we can play our own songs IF you can give them a link, e.g. from youtube/any online storage website, as soon as it is a direct link to your file.

This is where FileDen kicks in, (of course there are several other online storage websites like FileDen that gives you direct ftp access to your uploaded files but i found FileDen to be the best one for me) i upload my songs (from my harddisk) to FileDen and transfer the links to Mixpod so that they can be played in the player -

yes, i wanna give you guys the best quality of the songs that i can get and thus i uploaded most of the songs by myself.

Thank you?:p

So anyway i spend most of my time in the lab now - there are a lot of waitings prior the time course of running an experiment(like i am doing ELISA now) and drinking coffee+listening to the songs i uploaded has become my new 'hobby' recently -

=_= f*cking FileDen failed to load my songs for awhile now and today the worst news arrived:

Hello everyone,

I understand that you're all very (rightfully) frustrated with both the issue and lack of communication from us. I will attempt to describe the problem as simply as possible.

File Den data is split across 13 different storage servers, as inactive users' files are deleted, space becomes available on other servers and we have to do a lot of juggling around to ensure that continual access to files and accounts is possible. This results in the maintenance message for usually a very short period every once in a while for some users. We are currently working on a new storage system, of which will remove this neccessity and should be implemented within the next few weeks.

Each individual server has 5 (or more) hard disks in it, running in a RAID 5 setup. This gives us some redundancy in that if one disk fails, all the data remains in tact, unfortunately a few days ago when a hard disk failed, a second disk effectively also failed during the recovery process of which has resulted in the corruption of the data on that storage server.

We are working our very hardest (and have been continually over the last few days) to recover the data from this server via a variety of different techniques, however it's now looking likely that the data is not recoverable. We've setup a script of which is currently 'fixing' all the accounts affected, but we regret to say that user's affected have lost their data.

The only users that should be permanently affected by this issue are those of whom signed up in July 2009, January 2009 and 2006. Everyone else's data is perfectly safe and secure. Our new setup being introduced is far more redundant than our current rather dated setup so these problems should very much be an issue of the past.

Any paying customers please reply to this thread with your File Den username and we will offer a refund for your current payment term and upgrade your account further.

Once again I apologise for all the inconvenience inevitably caused by this, we're working hard to get everything back to normal.

Kind regards,
The File Den Team.

In short, all uploaded songs during those particular periods are gone.

forever.
